The Newark and North Jersey region woke up to a mild morning, but the forecast for Saturday promises a soggy day ahead.AdWhile the weekend won't be a complete washout, today is predominantly marked by rain rather than snow, with temperatures well above freezing.

Rainfall began lightly in Newark around 4:45 a.m., but it's expected to intensify as the day progresses. The first half of Saturday will see lighter rainfall, with the afternoon and evening bringing heavier downpours.

According to the National Weather Service, today's high is projected to reach around 50 degrees, with an east wind of 5 to 8 mph.

The chance of precipitation is at 100%, with new amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

As the day unfolds, it's advisable to carry an umbrella if venturing outdoors.

Alternatively, indulging in indoor activities like watching movies or diving into a good book might be a perfect opportunity. Stay dry and stay safe!
