Roselle Man Sought by Linden Police on Unlawful Possession of a Handgun

Police in Linden are searching for a Roselle man wanted for unlawful possession of a handgun after police recovered a handgun during a reported fight Saturday night.

On May 9 at approximately 11:55 p.m., police responded to a large group beginning to fight on the 1400 block of McCandless Street, Captain James Sarnicki said this afternoon.

Upon arrival, officers observed a blue Hyundai parked on the block with the trunk open. 

Two females were laying in the trunk and were instructed to step out of the vehicle by officers, according to Sarnicki. 

As they complied, officers observed a backpack and the butt of a pistol exposed in open view. Officers seized a Daisy Airsoft BB handgun. 

An on-scene investigation revealed the gun belonged to a Hasan A. Muhammad, 18, of Roselle. 

Muhammad fled the scene, according to the captain. 

A warrant was issued for his arrest for unlawful possession of a handgun.
