Authorities in Bergen County announced the arrest of Nicholas Cavaniola, 32, of Westwood, on charges of explicit contact and child endangerment.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said the arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck.
Officials said on May 08, 2023, the Westwood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged explicit contact with a juvenile that occurred in the past.
An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Nicholas Cavaniola had explicit contact with a child under the age of 13 in Westwood, officials stated.
Authorities say as a result of the ongoing investigation, on Wednesday, Feb 28, Nicholas Cavaniola was charged with two counts of second-degree explicit contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Cavaniola was arrested in Hillsdale and remanded to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, according to officials.
