My friends and family in the Newark and North Jersey region are in for a pleasant change today as temperatures begin to climb, marking the start of a warming trend.Compared to yesterday's cold weather, we're seeing temperatures running about 10 to 15 degrees higher across our area.
Waking up just above freezing in Newark, we can expect a significant jump into the 50s by this afternoon.
As the week progresses, the mercury is forecasted to rise even further, with temperatures reaching into the 60s.
According to the National Weather Service, today will bring a slight chance of light rain between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with skies starting off mostly cloudy but gradually becoming sunny.
The high for the day is expected to reach around 56 degrees with a southwest wind of 5 to 7 mph.
Tonight, we can anticipate partly cloudy skies with a low of around 37 degrees and light and variable wind conditions.
