A tragic accident on Route 80 in Teaneck resulted in at least one fatality and critical injuries, prompting NJ State Police to close lanes for investigation and emergency response early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred near mile marker 68 on the eastbound lanes of Route 80 just before 3:20 a.m., involved a car overturning onto its roof, according to preliminary information.
State Troopers dispatched to the scene found individuals trapped inside the vehicle with severe injuries.
Despite the efforts of the emergency responders, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual received critical aid before being transported to a local hospital, where they are currently in critical condition.
The cause of the collision is now the subject of an active and ongoing investigation led by the NJ State Police.
As authorities worked to piece together the events leading to this unfortunate incident, the affected section of the interstate remained temporarily closed for the investigation.
