Newark Police are calling for public assistance in identifying two suspects involved in an armed robbery at a local supermarket. The incident occurred on Thursday, February 22, 2024, around 7:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Bergen Street.
According to the police report, two Black male suspects entered the supermarket and demanded cash from the employees at gunpoint.
One suspect, wielding a handgun, forced an employee to the ground, while the other suspect coerced the cashier to open the register.
The duo managed to steal a total of $846.00 from two cash registers before fleeing southbound on Bergen Street from Avon Avenue.
The first suspect is described as about 5’9” tall, with a thin build and medium brown complexion, wearing a ski mask, blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and black Nike ACG boots.
The second suspect is approximately 5’6” tall with a stocky build and light complexion, also wearing a ski mask, along with a gray sweatshirt turned inside out, black ski pants, and black and white Nike sneakers.
