A bodega in Newark's South Ward fell victim to an armed robbery on Thursday evening, prompting a search for the suspects.Newark Police were called to the business located at the intersection of Bergen Street and Avon Avenue, popularly known as Los Tiburones, at around 8:17 p.m., following reports of the ongoing robbery.
Preliminary reports indicated that two suspects, armed and dangerous, entered the bodega and proceeded to rob the store of an undisclosed amount of cash.
The brazen nature of the crime has left the community who frequents this store in shock, with the perpetrators managing to flee the scene before the police arrived.
There were no physical injuries reported during the robbery. However, the incident has caused significant concern among local residents.
The Newark Police Department's Robbery Squad has since taken over the investigation, launching a search for the suspects who remain at large.
Police are combing through surveillance footage and seeking information from witnesses to track down the suspects.
