Francisco Andres-Medina, a 33-year-old Philadelphia resident, has admitted to engaging in explicit exploitative behavior with a minor.
Chief U.S. District Judge Renée Marie Bumb, presiding over the Camden federal court, heard Andres-Medina's guilty plea to serious charges, including the receipt of explicit images of minors and transferring obscene material to a minor.
The case, as announced by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, highlights a disturbing series of events that transpired between March and April 2020.
Documents and court statements reveal that Andres-Medina used the internet to communicate with a 15-year-old victim located in Camden County.
Despite being aware of the victim's age, Andres-Medina sent obscene images of himself and coerced the minor into producing and sending explicit videos and images.
Additionally, he directed the victim to record and send a video of her engaged in an explicit act with another individual.
Andres-Medina's actions have led to severe legal repercussions. The receipt of explicit images of minors charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and could extend up to 20 years in prison.
The transfer of obscene material to a minor has a maximum sentence of 10 years. Each count also includes a potential fine of up to $250,000.
The sentencing for these crimes is scheduled for June 26, 2024.
This case underscores the ongoing concerns regarding the safety of minors on the internet and the importance of vigilance against online exploitation.
