NJ Man Arrested for Atlantic City Murder Tries to Evade Police by Jumping Out Window

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Tuesday, February 20, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Atlantic City Police Department arrested Jamar Jones, 35, of Atlantic City.AdOfficials stated that Jones attempted to flee from the police by jumping from a third-floor window of an apartment building located at 61 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.

According to officials, Jones sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries from his fall.

Jones was wanted in connection to the homicide of Luis Rosa-Rodriguez, officials say.

Authorities said on November 7, 2023, Rosa-Rodriguez was shot and killed on the unit block south of Florida Avenue in Atlantic City.

The investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit led to identifying Jones as the individual who allegedly shot and killed Rosa-Rodriguez, officials stated.

Officials said on December 11, 2023, Jones was charged with Murder, Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Handgun without a Permit to Carry, and Possession of a Firearm by a Certain Person.

Jones had been a fugitive for these charges until today, authorities say.
