Chilly Winds Today Before Snowfall Hits Newark and North Jersey Tonight

As dawn breaks over Newark and the North Jersey region, residents are greeted with temperatures above freezing, yet a chill in the air produced by brisk morning winds.

AdDespite the promise of sunshine this morning, it does little to temper the gusty winds that cut through the warmth, making it feel significantly colder than the thermometer suggests.

Today boasts mostly sunny skies with a high nearing 42 degrees, but don't let the sunlight fool you.

The National Weather Service said wind chill values hovering between 25 and 35 degrees, combined with a breezy west wind blowing at 18 to 24 mph and gusts reaching up to 34 mph, will ensure a brisk day ahead.

As night falls, NWS meteorologists say the weather narrative takes a snowy turn.AdA chance of light snow is forecasted between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., with snowfall becoming more likely after 1 a.m. The skies will grow increasingly clouded, setting the stage for a wintry night with lows around 28 degrees.
