Newark authorities are currently investigating a series of unsettling events, marking the third shooting incident in the city within less than half a day.
The latest occurrence happened in the early hours of Friday near the Hebrew Cemetery, located at 410 South 19th Street in Newark's West Ward.
Responding urgently to a ShotSpotter alert, police were dispatched to the scene around 1:10 a.m., where they discovered shell casings indicative of recent gunfire.
Despite a thorough search of the surrounding neighborhood, no injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
The shooter, however, managed to escape and remains at large, leaving the community on edge as law enforcement continued to search the area.
The motive behind this and the earlier shootings remains a mystery, with investigations ongoing.
Authorities seek residents to come forward with any information that may lead to the apprehension of those responsible.
