Middlesex County fire officials are looking into the cause of a blaze that ravaged a commercial building in Highland Park on Tuesday night.The incident happened at 229 Raritan Avenue, where firefighters rushed to the scene around 11:15 p.m. after receiving alerts about the fire.
Upon their arrival, the severity of the situation prompted the crew to issue second and third alarms, calling for additional manpower.
The building, with apartments on the upper floors and stores below, was seen with flames erupting from its rear.
Firefighters swiftly deployed several lines to combat the aggressive fire, managing to bring it under control within an hour.
A thorough search of the property revealed no victims or injuries, a fortunate outcome amid the destruction.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
