Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella has announced the arrest of a juvenile following a severe motor vehicle accident in Teaneck.
The charges include leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, endangering an injured victim, and assault by auto.
The incident occurred on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the intersection of Palmer Ave and Sherman Avenue.
A 9-1-1 call at approximately 7:55 a.m. reported a collision between a 2015 Ford Explorer and a 2022 Nissan Rogue.
The juvenile, driving the Ford Explorer, fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by Teaneck police.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, under Chief Jason Love, and the Teaneck Police Department, led by Chief Andrew McGurr, jointly conducted the investigation.
The victim, a 40-year-old female operating the Nissan Rogue, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The juvenile is currently held at a detention facility, facing charges of third-degree leaving the scene of an accident, third-degree endangering an injured victim, and fourth-degree assault by auto.
A court appearance in the Chancery Division, Family Court, in Hackensack, NJ, is pending.
