Police units rushed to the scene near Muhammad Ali Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard just before 8:30 p.m., where they discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds near a local grocery and liquor store.
The unidentified individual was tragically pronounced dead shortly after the incident, intensifying the urgency of the ongoing investigation.
The area from Irvine Turner Boulevard to Springfield Avenue was quickly cordoned off, rerouting traffic and affecting access to I-78, which is several blocks away.
