My friends and family in Newark and the North Jersey region, if you are stepping out the door early today, you'll be greeted by a freezing 20 degrees, marking yet another cold day. While a slight warm-up is on the horizon, residents must brave one more day of chilling breezes that add to already frigid weather.
The biting wind makes it feel substantially colder, with wind chill making temperatures feel like a mere 8 degrees in Newark.
Despite today being marginally warmer than yesterday, The National Weather Service said the cold remains unyielding. The city will see some sunshine, but it does little to alleviate the frigid conditions. The National Weather Service forecasts a mostly sunny day with a high near 25 degrees, but don't let the sun fool you. Wind chill values will linger between 5 and 10 degrees, and a blustery northwest wind blowing at 10 to 20 mph only adds to the chill.
As night falls, expect partly cloudy skies with a low of around 17 degrees, maintaining similar wind chill values.
Residents are reminded to bundle up and stay warm as the cold continues its firm hold over Newark.
