Elizabeth Police are actively investigating a shooting incident in the port section of the city, which left one man injured early Friday morning.
The situation happened before 8:35 a.m. in the vicinity of 215 1st Street, where officers were swiftly dispatched following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, police found a man who was conscious and alert despite suffering a gunshot wound to his leg.
The victim was immediately transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
In a significant development, a weapon was recovered at the scene, and one individual has been detained for questioning in connection with the shooting.
However, the motive behind the incident remains unclear at this stage of the investigation.
No additional injuries were reported in the incident, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
