New Jersey Transit Police are currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Thursday night when a train struck and fatally injured an adult male pedestrian near the Fanwood Station in Union County.The incident involved Raritan Valley Line train 5150, which was en route from Raritan to Penn Station, New York, departing at 6:49 p.m. and expected to arrive at 8:14 p.m.
Officials said the collision took place at approximately 7:21 p.m., causing immediate suspension of the Raritan Valley Line service in both directions.
Despite the severity of the incident, it was reported that none of the 100 passengers or crew aboard the train sustained injuries.
New Jersey Transit police swiftly responded to the scene and have taken the lead in the ongoing investigation.
