Investigators from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are trying to determine the exact location of a shooting that left one person dead and another injured on the East Orange/Newark border late last night.
Police responded to reports of a shooting with injuries in the 60's block of Mountainview Ave. (Newark) where they arrived to find two males victims in a vehicle shot, (one fatally) at that location. The fatally injured victim reportedly was struck in the head while the other victim (described by residents as a "young boy") suffered injury from gunfire.
The injured victim was taken to University Hospital where he was expected to survive. The victim reported that they were shot somewhere on Arsdale Terrace and drove to the Mountainview address.
East Orange Police reported a vehicle struck by several rounds of gunfire in the 100 block of Shepard Avenue around the time of the fatal shooting on Mountainview.
