NWS: Arctic Blast Brings Freezing Temperatures to Newark, North Jersey Region

Residents of North Jersey are waking up to a bone-chilling morning as an Arctic blast sweeps through the region, bringing with it frigid temperatures and icy winds.NinosThe National Weather Service reports that the mercury has plummeted to 19 degrees in Newark, but the biting wind makes it feel as cold as 0 in some parts of the North Jersey region.

This deep freeze is not a quick visitor; expect it to linger throughout the day.

Despite sunny skies, temperatures will struggle to climb, with a high near 28. The wind chill, however, will make it feel like it's between 5 and 15 degrees, thanks to a persistent west wind blowing at 10 to 17 mph.

As night falls, the cold tightens its grip.

The sky will mostly clear, but the low will hover around 19 degrees. Wind chill values will dip between 10 and 15, with a west wind continuing at a pace of 9 to 14 mph.
