A severe car crash in Newark's South Ward late Saturday evening resulted in multiple hospitalizations and a person detained at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed the intersection of Haynes Avenue and Frelinghuysen Avenue following reports of a crash with injuries shortly before 9:15 p.m.
Arriving at the scene, responders found a chaotic scene with an overturned vehicle that had collided with a pole, bringing down wires in the process.
Three individuals suffered non-fatal injuries in the incident and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Reports say the police detained one person amidst suspicions that the vehicle involved might have been stolen.
The exact cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
