New Jersey State Police are conducting an investigation into a tragic accident that occurred on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of a construction worker from Essex County.
The accident happened on Interstate 280 West, near milepost 13.4, in the city of Newark.
Jose Rosales-Cumbicos, a 58-year-old male from Newark, New Jersey, was working on a construction project on the westbound section of I-80 when the incident occurred at approximately 6:26 a.m.
According to preliminary reports, Rosales-Cumbicos was struck by construction machinery, leading to fatal injuries.
As of now, the details surrounding the accident are sparse, and the investigation is ongoing. New Jersey State Police have not released additional information but are actively working to determine the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.
