Newark Police are calling on the public for assistance in identifying a suspect linked to a shooting incident that took place in the early hours of New Year's Day 2024.At around 4:05 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of University Avenue and Campbell Street.
While no victims were found at the scene, officers discovered ballistic evidence, including four spent 9mm cartridges and one live round.
The suspect, captured in images now circulating, is described as being around 5'10" tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds, with a dark complexion.
Notably, he was seen wearing a military fatigue vest adorned with a security badge on his lapel.
After the incident, he was reported to have fled the scene in a black 4-door BMW.
The Newark Police Department is urging anyone with information about the suspect's identity to come forward and contact the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
The department assures that all tips received through the Crime Stoppers line will remain confidential, and informants could be eligible for a reward.
