Essex County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating a case following the discovery of a deceased individual in a Newark park.
The incident came to light shortly before noon on Sunday when police received a report of an unconscious and unresponsive person near the Lake Street side of the park, between Abington Avenue and 2nd Avenue.
Upon arrival, the unidentified person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
While the Essex County Prosecutor's Office had been notified, they have not announced an official investigation.
As of now, there are no indications of foul play being involved in this incident.
The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the cause of this event.
