As we welcome 2024, the first weather reports for Newark and the North Jersey Region indicate a brisk start to the New Year.
Early risers might have noticed a few flurries, though conditions remain quite manageable.
Not all areas in North Jersey are experiencing these light snowfalls, and as the sun rises, we expect any lingering precipitation to dissipate.
The National Weather Service forecasts a 20 percent chance of rain before 11 a.m. on New Year's Day, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 44 degrees.
A calm wind in the morning will shift to the north at about six mph in the afternoon.
As the night falls on the first day of 2024, the skies will turn partly cloudy with a low of around 30 degrees.
A gentle north wind will persist at around seven mph.
