Belleville is set to host its annual Three Kings Day celebration, a holiday cherished in many Latin American countries and parts of Europe, including Spain and Italy.
This year's event, scheduled for Saturday, January 6, promises a new and exciting twist for children of all ages.
Belleville High School at 100 Passaic Ave. will be the center of this festive occasion.
In a unique addition to this year's celebration, the story of La Befana, an Italian folklore character known as a kind old woman or good witch, will be incorporated.
Traditionally, La Befana brings gifts and candy to well-behaved children on the night of January 5.
This drive-thru event will feature an array of attractions, including candy, gifts, floats, and beautiful costumes.
A highlight for many will be the return of the camels, a beloved part of the annual celebration.
Mayor Michael Melham expressed his enthusiasm for the event, noting its role in bringing joy to children and fostering a sense of community in Belleville.
He also shared some tips for the residents: "Remember to keep any Three Kings Day cards you receive for good health and happiness throughout the year. Leave a light on before leaving home to guide the Three Kings and children, consider placing a small box filled with hay under your bed for the camels."
For those attending, the entrance will be via Division Avenue, with an exit through Passaic Avenue.
The celebration will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., and participants must be in line before 7:45 p.m. to join in the festivities.
