Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the charging of a 17-year-old male from Jersey City.
The charges relate to a fatal shooting incident that occurred on December 18, resulting in the death of 18-year-old Mr. Angel Regalado Guzman.
The juvenile is facing serious charges including Aggravated Manslaughter, a first-degree crime, as well as second-degree crimes of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
As this involves a juvenile case, further details remain confidential.
The incident unfolded on the afternoon of December 18 when Guzman arrived at Jersey City Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
He was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m. An examination by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office declared the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head, ruling it a homicide.
The investigation, led by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit in collaboration with the Jersey City Police Department, pinpointed the location of the shooting at a residence on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City.
Prosecutor Suarez expressed her gratitude towards both the Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for their diligent work in the investigation and subsequent arrest.
It is important to note that the charges against the 17-year-old are merely accusations at this stage, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
