Paterson Police are actively searching for a suspect responsible for firing multiple shots in a neighborhood early Monday morning.
The incident was first detected by a ShotSpotter device, which alerted authorities to gunfire in the area of 247 Lafayette Street shortly before 12:50 a.m.
Responding officers quickly secured the scene, cordoning off the area after discovering eight shell casings.
Despite the evidence of gunfire, a thorough search by the police revealed no victims at the scene.
The suspect, who managed to flee before law enforcement arrived, is still at large.
Paterson Police are now appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individual responsible for this brazen act of violence.
As the investigation continues, the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that might aid the ongoing search.
