Paterson Police are investigating a shooting incident that happened early on Christmas morning, leading to one person being hospitalized.
The incident came to light shortly before 2:50 a.m. when officials at St. Joseph's Hospital alerted Paterson Police about an unidentified individual who arrived in the emergency department with a gunshot wound.
Coinciding with this, police had received a ShotSpotter alert on Madison Street around the same time the victim walked into the hospital.
Officers responding to the alert conducted a thorough search of the area, finding two shell casings near the intersection of Straight and Ward Street. However, no additional victims were located.
Currently, the shooting remains under active investigation, with no arrests reported yet.
Paterson Police are piecing together the circumstances that led to this violent incident on a day typically marked by peace and celebration.
They urge anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
