The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force is spearheading an investigation into a fatal shooting incident that occurred earlier this evening on the Newark side of the East Orange Border.
The Newark Police were dispatched to the area of Mountainview Avenue and Grand Avenue following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, officers made a grim discovery: a male victim, suffering from gunshot wounds, was found inside a vehicle.
County officials have confirmed that the unidentified male was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a tragic turn in the incident.
As of now, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has taken the lead in this active and ongoing investigation, seeking to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
No other injuries have been reported in relation to this incident. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding potential suspects or motives.
