Icy Morning in North Jersey: Cold, Breezy Conditions Post-Storm

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My family and friends in Newark and the North Jersey Region are experiencing a brisk and cold start to the day, especially challenging as residents get their children ready for school.

The region is waking up to below-freezing temperatures, a significant shift following Monday's storm.

Yes, this sudden drop in temperature has led to treacherous driving conditions, as the residual water from the recent flooding has now frozen over, creating slick and icy roads throughout the entire region.

For today, The National Weather Service forecasts a sunny day with a high near 45 degrees. However, the wind chill this morning will make it feel between 25 and 35 degrees.

Winds from the northwest are expected at 6 to 8 mph. The skies will remain mostly clear tonight, with a low of around 32 degrees.

The afternoon promises to stay dry and sunny, but caution is advised due to the icy conditions from the morning's freeze.

Residents are urged to be safe and allow extra time for travel, keeping in mind the potential hazards on the roads.
