State Troopers from Sussex Station have arrested health aide worker for making over $75,000 worth fraudulent credit card purchases using a former patient's accounts.
In October 2014, troopers were investigating a theft of jewelry from a Stillwater Township residence. The victim passed away approximately two months prior to the theft.
Detectives were able to identify Ruth Hook, 41, of Hamburg, as the suspect in the theft. As the investigation progressed, the victim's family discovered fraudulent activity on various financial statements.
On Saturday, May 2, Ruth Hook was arrested and charged with computer criminal activity (2nd degree), theft (2nd degree), fraudulent use of a credit card (3rd degree), and credit card theft (4th degree).
Hook was processed at Sussex Station and lodged at the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
