Early Sunday morning, the University Heights section of Newark was disrupted by gunfire, prompting an immediate police response.
Around 6:30 a.m., shots were fired near 186 West Market Street. When police arrived, they discovered shell casings at the scene, leading to the call for a crime scene unit and Newark's Shooting Response Team to aid in the investigation.
