Authorities in Newark faced an unusual challenge on Thursday morning as they worked to corral a wild bull found wandering dangerously close to the train tracks near Penn Station.
The incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. when police received reports of the bull's presence on the Route 21/McCarter Highway side of the NJ Transit tracks.
In response to the situation, both NJ Transit and Amtrak services were temporarily halted and delayed while efforts were made to capture and remove the bull from the tracks safely.
Commuters experienced disruptions during this unexpected delay.
Fortunately, by approximately 11:04 a.m., commuters reported to RLS Media that train services had resumed, alleviating the inconvenience caused by the wandering bull.
The bull's origins remain a mystery, as it is unclear which slaughter shop in Newark's Ironbound section the animal escaped from.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the bull's appearance near the busy train tracks.
NJ TRANSIT statement: “There was a bull on the tracks at Newark Penn Station. The bull is no longer on the tracks and service has resumed with 45-minute delays between Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station. NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by PATH at Hoboken, Newark Penn and 33rd Street New York”.
