Newark Police Responds to West Ward Shooting Alerted by ShotSpotter Device

In Newark's West Ward, a ShotSpotter device played a role in alerting police to a shooting on Monday night.AdThe incident occurred shortly before 10:15 p.m., with police responding to the activation near 25 North Munn Avenue, just a block from Vailsburg Park.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered shell casings, indicating that shots had indeed been fired.

A thorough canvassing of the area was conducted by the Newark Police Department. Fortunately, this response revealed no injuries resulting from the incident.

As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The investigation into the shooting continues as authorities seek to identify and apprehend the individual(s) responsible.
