Sunday night, a section of Newark's Ironbound district was disrupted by gunfire, leading to a police investigation.
Around 9:20 p.m., Newark police responded to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Roanoke Avenue and Hawkins Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered shell casings at the scene, indicating a recent shooting had taken place.
A crime scene unit was promptly requested to assist in gathering evidence and understanding the events that transpired.
Despite a thorough search of the neighborhood, no victims were found, suggesting that the shots did not result in any immediate injuries. However, the suspect responsible for the gunfire managed to flee the scene and remains at large.
The motive behind this shooting is currently under investigation.
