Emergency responders rushed to the scene of a dramatic crash involving a vehicle on fire on a Bergen County road.
The incident, still in its preliminary stages, began unfolding around 4:15 a.m. when Wyckoff Police received reports of two stolen vehicles in the town, a silver Porsche Panamera and a black Range Rover.
Paramus Police soon engaged in following the vehicles on the Garden State Parkway.
Both cars eluded officers, while one was closely followed. The situation led to the northbound lanes of Route 17 near Saddle River Road in Waldwick, where the vehicle being tracked by police crashed and rolled over.
The impact was severe enough to knock down a pole, causing live wires to fall to the ground.
As a result of the crash, Route 17 North at East Allendale Road, along with all southbound lanes in Ramsey, were shut down. Initial reports indicate presumed injuries, though the severity remains unconfirmed as of 4:55 a.m.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and authorities advise avoiding the area to allow for uninterrupted investigative and recovery efforts.
