A woman was swiftly transported to University Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to her leg, leading to the lockdown of several schools in the vicinity of Norfolk and Sussex Avenue in Newark.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. when three unidentified males discharged multiple rounds, one of which struck the woman.
Law enforcement officers responded promptly to the scene, securing the area with caution tape after discovering shell casings.
Fortunately, there were no additional reported injuries in the incident.
As of now, the suspects involved in the shooting remain at large, prompting a heightened police presence in the area as authorities diligently work to locate and apprehend them.
