Irvington Township Public Schools, in a collaborative effort with Experience the Legacy, Inc., is set to host an influential HBCU College Fair.

The event, scheduled for December 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., aims to bridge the gap between high school students and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Township school officials said the fair will be held at Irvington High School, located at 1253 Clinton Avenue, with free admission open to students, parents, and educators.

This educational fair is a significant initiative by Irvington Public Schools and Experience the Legacy, Inc., focusing on promoting education and diversity.

It presents a vital opportunity for students to connect directly with representatives from various HBCUs, offering insights into academic programs, admissions, scholarships, and the unique campus life these institutions offer.Ad The event will feature several key highlights:

- Interaction with college representatives from various HBCUs, providing students with comprehensive information about academic programs and scholarship opportunities.

- Informative panels covering crucial topics such as college preparation, financial aid, and scholarship application strategies, offering expert advice to streamline the college application process.

- Networking opportunities with current HBCU students and alumni, offering personal perspectives on the academic and social experiences at these institutions.

- A Greek Step Showcase, highlighting the role of the nine historically black fraternities and sororities in university life.

Dr. April Vauss, Superintendent of Irvington Public Schools, expressed excitement about the event, stating, "The HBCU College Fair is a crucial platform for empowering students with information and choices for their future. We're committed to celebrating the legacy and influence of HBCUs in our community."

Experience the Legacy, Inc., founded in 2016, plays a significant role in this event.

The organization focuses on introducing Black and Brown students to the vibrancy and educational excellence of HBCUs, combining aspects of iconic HBCU homecomings with essential college fair elements.

The fair enables students to interact with financial advisors, network with alumni, and engage with recruiters from various HBCUs.

This event is a chance for parents, students, and teachers to explore multiple college options without leaving New Jersey.
