Fire officials in Union County are investigating the cause of a fire that led to the evacuation of the Swan Motel in Linden on Tuesday night.
The emergency response was initiated around 10:15 p.m. after reports of a fire at the motel located at 301 East Edgar Road.
Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with smoke and flames emanating from one of the motel's rooms.
The teams quickly sprung into action, forcing entry into the second-floor room. Inside, they discovered a mattress engulfed in flames.
Prompt and efficient firefighting skills had crews managing to contain the blaze to the affected room, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the motel.
Several occupants of the motel were evaluated for smoke exposure. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported in the incident.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing as officials seek to determine the circumstances that led to this potentially dangerous situation.
