CLEARED: 'Newark Woman Had Nothing to do With Aggravated Assault Case'

The Robbery Section of the Newark Police Department has been actively investigating an incident of aggravated assault that occurred on November 20 in the city.AdDuring the investigation, Ms. Tonia Oakes emerged as a person of potential interest.

On Monday, Newark Police confirmed that Ms. Oakes was sought only for questioning related to the incident, which involved the pointing of a handgun in the 400 block of Avon Avenue.

This case had initially drawn significant attention due to its violent nature and the use of a firearm.

Responding proactively to the police’s request, Ms. Oakes voluntarily cooperated with the authorities.

She appeared at the Newark Police Department located at 31 Green Street to provide her account.

After a thorough discussion with the detectives, it has been conclusively determined that Oakes was not involved in the aggravated assault incident.

Newark Police officials initially suspected that Ms. Oakes might possess critical information for their investigation, but they have now ruled out her involvement.

This development brings a new turn to the ongoing case as the detectives continue to piece together the events that transpired on that day.

The department also urges anyone with information about the incident on Avon Avenue to come forward to assist in bringing justice to this case.
