Newark police are conducting an investigation into a shooting that occurred in the city's Lower West Ward on Monday night, which resulted in the injury of a male victim.The incident was revealed when the injured man arrived at the University Hospital's emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Upon receiving notification from the hospital, police officers immediately responded to the medical facility. The victim informed the police that the shooting incident took place at the Georgia King Village housing complex.
In response to this information, the city's Shooting Response Team was dispatched to assist with the active investigation at the complex.
As of now, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victim are not considered life-threatening.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more details and determine the circumstances that led to this incident.
