Early risers in Newark and the North Jersey region are in for a chilly start to their Small Business Saturday shopping spree.

Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing, making it imperative to bundle up in a winter coat, don a warm hat, and even consider gloves to brave the cold.

The National Weather Center forecasts a day with mostly sunny skies but a high temperature of only around 41 degrees.

A gentle north wind of about five mph is anticipated, becoming calm as the morning progresses.AdSaturday night won't bring much relief as temperatures are predicted to remain cold, with a low of around 31 degrees. The wind will be light and variable, adding to the chill in the air.

With humidity levels at 56 percent and a barometer reading of 30.37 inches, it's clear that this chilly weather is here to stay for the day.

While the cold may nip at your fingers and nose, don't let it deter you from supporting local businesses on this Small Business Saturday.
