A massive fire that erupted and injured nearly a dozen firefighters on Thanksgiving Day at 5222 Bergenline Avenue is currently under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force alongside the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue.
The incident, which took place around 5:30 p.m., saw emergency responders battling intense flames and smoke.
The North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue teams were quick to respond, but the severity of the fire led to injuries among the firefighting crew.
Officials said ten firefighters were injured during the efforts, with two sustaining serious injuries.
One firefighter is still hospitalized, but thankfully, the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Additionally, four civilians received minor injuries and were treated and released.
After a strenuous battle, the fire was declared under control shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force's preliminary findings indicate the fire started in an apartment bedroom.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, foul play is not currently suspected.
The Prosecutor's Office is actively seeking information from the public regarding the incident.
