NWS Weekend Weather: Nice Start to Saturday but Cold Front Brings Cooler Temperatures to Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

This morning, Newark and North Jersey residents woke up to a relatively warm start, but changes are on the horizon.

The light rain in some areas is heralding the arrival of a cold front that will soon sweep through the region, bringing cooler temperatures in its wake.

As the day progresses, the National Weather Service said we can expect a 30 percent chance of showers until around 7 a.m. in the Newark and North Jersey region.AdThe skies will remain cloudy through mid-morning, gradually clearing as the day progresses. However, the temperature will fall, reaching around 48 degrees by 5 p.m.

The Northwest wind will pick up speed, blowing at 10 to 16 mph. This weather shift is a result of the cold front moving in, ushering in cooler and drier air.

As the front passes through, the second half of the weekend will be noticeably brisk and colder, with high temperatures only reaching the high 40s on Sunday.

Be prepared for a cooler and crisper weekend ahead!
