Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Thursday, November 16, Sean Lowney, 32, of Atlantic City, was sentenced by the Honorable Dorothy Garrabrant, J.S.C., to 16 years in New Jersey State Prison with a parole ineligibility of eight years.
Officials stated for second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms, it is concurrent to five years in New Jersey State Prison with parole ineligibility of three and a half years for second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun.
According to officials, due to Lowney’s extensive and repetitive criminal history, he was eligible to be sentenced to an extended term under the persistent offender’s statute.
Lowney was sentenced in accordance with that statute, officials say.
Officials said on August 11, 2023, Lowney was convicted by an Atlantic County Jury stemming from Lowney wielding a revolver at his ex-paramour’s residence on May 17, 2021, in Atlantic City.
