The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Wyckoff Police Department, is investigating a tragic house fire that claimed the life of a resident in Wyckoff.
The incident occurred at 481 Meer Avenue on Sunday, November 5, and has left the community in mourning.
At approximately 12:05 p.m. on that fateful day, the Wyckoff Police Department received a 911 call reporting a house fire at 481 Meer Avenue.
Swiftly responding to the emergency, officers arrived on the scene and discovered 79-year-old Ms. Virginia Ingenito unresponsive in the residence.
Tragically, despite the efforts of first responders, Ms. Ingenito was later pronounced deceased.
The Wyckoff Fire Department acted swiftly to suppress the fire and prevent its further spread, containing the blaze to the affected area.
An ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, led by Chief Jason Love, and the Wyckoff Police Department, under the direction of Chief David Murphy.
Authorities are working diligently to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal fire.
