Authorities in Newark announced that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Shanita N. Rose, 40, of Newark, in connection with a carjacking that occurred with a male child inside the vehicle on Tuesday, October 31.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said at approximately 8:13 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Wilson Avenue on a call of a carjacked vehicle taken with a 3-year-old child left inside.
Police immediately canvassed the area for a 2017 silver-colored Hyundai Sonata, officials stated.
According to officials, an Amber Alert was issued at approximately 9:55 a.m.
Authorities say at approximately 10:30 a.m., police located the vehicle in Jersey City with the child inside and unharmed.
Newark Police detectives have identified Rose as a suspect in this incident and request the public’s help in quickly locating her, officials said.
