My friends and family in Newark and the North Jersey region are bracing for an early taste of winter as temperatures drop significantly.
At 4:30 a.m., the thermometer reads a chilly 37 degrees, and for some areas like Trenton, NJ, the mercury has dipped below freezing.
According to National Weather Service data, Thursday's forecast suggests a high of only around 50 degrees with sunny skies and a light northwest wind of about five mph.
As night falls, NWS forecasters say residents can expect temperatures to plummet further, reaching a low of approximately 35 degrees with a gentle southwest wind at around six mph.
This abrupt transition from mild fall conditions to what feels like winter has prompted many to reach for their sweaters and coats.
While the day promises clear skies, the unseasonably cool temperatures serve as a reminder that winter is not far off on the horizon for Newark and North Jersey.
