Newark and the surrounding North Jersey region are waking up to a damp and chilly morning, with light rain in some areas.
As of 4:30 a.m., temperatures were hovering around 47 degrees in North Arlington, making it a day when an extra layer or coat would be appreciated for staying warm.
The National Weather Service said the weather forecast indicates that rain is likely, especially before 8 a.m., with cloudy conditions extending through mid-morning.
However, residents can anticipate gradual clearing as the day progresses, with a high temperature reaching near 50 degrees.
A brisk north wind, blowing at speeds of 7 to 11 mph and gusting as high as 22 mph, will add a chill to the air.
Despite the wet start, precipitation amounts are expected to be minimal, with less than a tenth of an inch anticipated.
For those heading out early, be prepared for cooler and potentially damp conditions, but expect the weather to improve as the day unfolds.
