UPDATE: Man Wanted for Deadly Newark South Ward Shooting Captured in Texas

A NJ man was apprehended in Laredo, Texas, over the weekend on two out-of-state warrants, one of which is for murder, according to the Laredo Police Department.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office informed RLS Media that the murder took place on October 22, around 3:55 p.m., in Newark's South Ward.

Laredo Police confirmed that Mr. Antwine King, 32,  was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon. They learned that King was wanted in Newark for murder and possession of a weapon without a permit.

During the arrest, Laredo officers discovered that King was in possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine (PG1-F/3), and marijuana (C/B).

The Laredo Police Patrol Division, in collaboration with U.S. Marshals and the Fugitive Task Force, apprehended King and served him with warrants for both out-of-state charges and the new drug-related charges.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens reported that the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is actively investigating the tragic shooting that resulted in the death of Mr. Vincent J. Anderson, 60, of New York City.

According to ECPO Spokesman Robert Florida, Newark police responded to a report of a shooting incident on the 300 block of Renner Avenue

Reports say Anderson was found with a gunshot wound to his neck.

Residents along Renner Avenue shared with RLS Media their fond memories of Anderson, expressing deep affection for him within the community.

He was a familiar presence, frequently spotted washing and meticulously detailing cars, earning him the affectionate nickname, "Carwash."

Circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting is under an active and ongoing investigation. 

RLS Media learned that King is expected to be extradited back to New Jersey to face homicide charges related to the tragic incident.
